Terms of Use

First Light · Last updated 4 September 2026

First Light is an iPhone alarm app published by SECTA ("we", "us"). By downloading or using it you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Our full registered company details will be published here once incorporation completes, and will match the seller name shown on the App Store listing.

Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use First Light on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. Apple's standard licence terms also apply and can be read here; where they conflict with anything below, whichever is more protective of you applies.

You may not resell the app, reverse-engineer it beyond what the law permits, or use it to break the law or harass anyone.

The alarm is software, and software fails

For important things, we recommend setting a second alarm. A flight, an exam, a shift, a hospital appointment — back it up.

First Light schedules alarms through Apple's AlarmKit, and whether one actually sounds depends on things outside our control: your device being switched on and charged, iOS behaving as documented, alarm permissions staying granted, your ringtone volume, and Apple not changing how any of it works. We build carefully and test on real devices, but we cannot and do not guarantee that any given alarm will ring.

We are not liable for anything you miss, lose or oversleep through.

Missions and your health

First Light is not a medical or fitness professional and gives no medical advice. If you have any doubt about whether an exercise is safe for you, ask a doctor before you start.

Some missions involve physical movement — press-ups, squats, handstand practice, yoga, walking. You take part at your own risk, you are responsible for judging what is safe for your body, and you should stop immediately if anything hurts. Never attempt a handstand or any inversion without a clear space and, if you are new to it, supervision.

First Light is a habit tool, not a treatment for any sleep, mental-health or medical condition. If you are struggling with sleep, please speak to a doctor.

Your content

Photos you take in the app, and the numbers you log, are yours. They stay on your device — we never receive them and cannot access them. See the Privacy Policy. Because they are stored only on your phone, deleting the app deletes them permanently, and we cannot recover them for you.

Availability and changes

We may add, change or remove features, and we may stop supporting older versions of iOS. If a change would materially reduce what a paid subscription gives you, we'll say so in advance so you can cancel before renewing.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, First Light is provided "as is" and we exclude all implied warranties. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. If you're a consumer, you keep all your statutory rights — including, in the UK, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it. Material changes to subscription pricing or renewal are also surfaced in the app before they take effect.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes fall to the courts of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you may also bring proceedings in your own country.
